On March 30, 2022, Great Ecology delivered its final presentation of the two year Oakdale Lake Water Assessment Project. Funded by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) environmental justice grant program, the report included a summary of the results of ecological studies, water quality surveys, predictive modeling efforts and a series of recommended management options for nutrient reduction and conservation.

Project components included environmental database analysis, watershed mapping, field reconnaissance, and conducting a bathymetric survey of the lake. In addition, Great Ecology worked with FOL to develop and implement a citizen science water quality monitoring program and conducted ecosystem modeling of the lake’s response to nutrient loading and possible future management alternatives.
